Whiplash (2014)

This was just phenomenal. There really is no other word for it. It’s hard to believe this was in fact the first feature length film for the director. The intensity of the sadism, frustration and yearning sucks you into an incredibly captivating emotional rollercoaster ride accompanied by a fantastic jazz soundtrack. It’s not perfect, it kinda loses a bit steam in couple of scenes, but despite that, this is very close to being one of the best movie experiences I’ve had this entire year. J.K Simmons is flat-out amazing as the over the limits pushing conductor that you love to hate, who yet a second later can charm you with a compliment, like the true devil he is. And that ending, goddamn.
