Blind (2014)

I was surprised how meta it gets by the end of the movie. I was expecting a simple movie about coping with blindness and the sense of loneliness when you end up excluded from other people due to your personal handicaps. Instead what I got was a complex movie (with an exceptionally clever use of meta-narrative) about how losing your sight leads to fascinating  forms of perverted paranoia, fear, and malicious jealousy through the lead character’s fantasies about what is actually happening around her in the world that she no longer can see. The climax where reality and fiction begin to blur as they overlap and eventually come crashing down was remarkably well done, it’s no wonder Blind is on the shortlist for Norway’s Best Foreign-Language Feature Oscar nomination.
