Calvary (2014)

I was really excited to see this after seeing the trailer several months ago, and while it doesn’t quite live up to the hype, it’s in no way disappointing. The morbid humor and eclectic characters are more than enough to keep you happy.  The film  certainly better than The Guard, the previous collaboration with Gleeson and the director, which was a bit uneven to my taste. This time the humor and story are far better balanced and Gleeson does a superb job as the nonchalant central figure with deep complexities buried inside that rarely see the light of day.
